Litzow leads Judge in August primary election | Election results

The first results are in for the primary election as of Thursday, Aug. 9. Here are the top-voted candidates for several state and federal offices out of King County voters:

Steve Litzow (R) of Mercer Island leads Maureen Judge (D) in the race for a State Senator position in Legislative District No. 41. Litzow has received 57.78 percent of the vote, while Judge has received 42.03 percent.

Marcie Maxwell (D) has received 56.41 percent of the vote for State Representative Position No. 1 out of District 41, ahead of Tim Eaves (R), who has received 43.49 percent.

Judy Clibborn (D) is running unopposed for State Representative Position No. 2 in District 41 and has received 96.9 percent of the vote.

In the race for a United States Senator position, Maria Cantwell (D) leads all candidates with 66.88 percent of the vote. Michael Baumgartner (R) is in second place with 23.39 percent.

In the race for U.S. Representative in District No. 9, Adam Smith (D) leads with 60.86 percent of the vote. Jim Postma (R) is in second with 22.77 percent.

For governor, Jay Inslee (D) leads with 58.47 percent of the vote, and Rob McKenna (R) has 35.41 percent among King County voters. Across the state, the race was much closer, with Inslee earning 46.77 percent and McKenna earning 42.93 percent.

Brad Owen (D) is in the lead for lieutenant governor with 54.6 percent, and Bill Finkbeiner (R) has 24.4 percent.

In the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction, incumbent Randy Dorn leads with a 63.25 percentage of the votes.

Mike Kreidler, running for another term as the Insurance Commissioner has 66.89 percent of the vote, while John R. Adams has 16.22 percent of the votes.

In the race for attorney general, the position currently held by McKenna, Kim Wyman had 29.98 percent, while Kathleen Drew earned 27.49 percent of the vote.

The top two candidates in each race will advance to the November general election. Ballots will be mailed in early October.

Approximately 223,811 voters from King County participated in the election, roughly 20 percent of the overall number of registered voters.
