Theft

The owner of Puppy Bubbles reported that the dog grooming company’s sandwich board went missing on Feb. 10. According to the police report, the board had been left overnight on the sidewalk of 76th Avenue S.E., the street where Puppy Bubbles is located.

A Mercer Island High School teenager reported that her iPod was stolen from her gym bag, left in the girls’ locker room on Feb. 10. According to the police report, the bag was in the locker room while the girl was playing a game. The Liberty High School boys varsity team was reportedly inside the girls’ locker room during the suspected time frame. The total loss is $300.

An Island woman reported that her Chevron gas card was stolen sometime between Nov. 8 and Dec. 25, 2009. Several charges were made between that time. The amount charged was not reported.

Accidents

A pedestrian was struck at the intersection of S.E. 32nd Street and 78th Avenue S.E. on Feb. 2. According to the police report, the woman was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. Witnesses stated that the woman was already in the crosswalk when the driver began to enter the intersection and make a left-hand turn. The woman was knocked to the ground and complained of left leg and arm injuries. The Mercer Island Fire Department arrived at the scene to evaluate the victim, who was transported to Overlake Hospital. The driver stated that she did not see the pedestrian.

Two cars sideswiped each other in the Mercer Island post office parking lot on Feb. 6. According to the police report, both cars were leaving the post office. The first car backed out of the parking stall while the second car was attempting to pass. The two cars collided in the left front corner. No injuries were reported.

Arrests

Police arrested a Kent man for drug possession with intent to sell and driving with a suspended license in the 6000 block of westbound I-90 on Feb. 11. According to the police report, the driver consented to a vehicle search, in which police found a marijuana pipe with burnt residue inside. The matter was later identified as Clonazepam. The driver’s wallet was searched and a piece of foil was found with a white pill inside and a burnt track mark. The suspect admitted that the pill was Oxycontin and that he smoked it. He was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.

Police arrested a Kent man for driving with a suspended license on Feb. 11. According to the police report, the driver was pulled over in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue S.E. after a computer check revealed the offense. The male driver was positively identified, arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail.

A Renton man with a $5,075 misdemeanor warrant was arrested in the 8100 block of eastbound I-90 on Feb. 10. According to the police report, the man was pulled over after police identified the King County warrant. The man was arrested and transferred over into King County’s custody.

Police arrested a Seatac man for drunk driving in the 8000 block of S.E. 28th Street on Feb. 9. According to the police report, the man was pulled over for a non-functioning license plate light. The driver admitted that his license had been suspended. The officer noticed an odor of intoxicants. The driver initially denied drinking alcohol, but then admitted that he had consumed one Tall Boy. He failed a standard field sobriety test, was arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail.

A Mercer Island woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Feb. 7 after being pulled over in the 3400 block of 77th Place S.E. for failure to signal a turn. The woman reportedly had seven Failure To Appears on file. She admitted that she had no proof of liability insurance and was advised of her pending court date in the event that she was able to post bail.

Hit and runs

A woman living in the 9000 block of East Shorewood Drive reported that her Nissan Altima was damaged in a hit-and-run on Feb. 9. According to the police report, the incident occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 8. The vehicle sustained body and paint damage along its side. The woman said she had driven her car to multiple locations during the two-day time frame. There is currently a white car in the neighborhood that is suspect.

An Island man reported that his 1989 Volvo was damaged in a hit-and-run incident on Feb. 6. According to the police report, the car was legally parked on 84th Avenue S.E. in front of the owner’s house. The owner found that his car had been smashed in the rear and pushed forward about four feet, forcing the right front tire up onto the sidewalk. An attendant at a nearby gas station said he heard screeching tires and a crash about one hour before the victim contacted him. No evidence was left at the scene.

A hit-and-run occurred at the top of Gallagher Hill on Feb. 1. According to the police report, a woman was headed southbound on Gallagher Hill Road and stopped at the intersection with S.E. 40th Street. As she pulled out to make a left turn, a car came from westbound on 40th, slid through the stop sign and struck the side of her vehicle. The car then sped off down Gallagher Hill. The only description the woman could make was that the car was red, and she could not see the occupant because of the tinted windows. The woman said there were no witnesses at the scene.

Mischief

An Island man reported that somebody threw a container of yogurt at his window on Jan. 30. According to the police report, the man heard something hit his front window. He walked to the window and discovered yogurt splattered on the glass and a hole through the top part of the window. The estimated damage is $3,000.

Abandoned property

An Island woman reported finding an abandoned bicycle on the sidewalk across from the Boys & Girls Club on Feb. 9. According to the incident report, the red and black Specialized brand bike was placed into found property.
