Eating Disorders Support

The Eating disorders support group (EDSG) is to begin again.

The group will meet from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on May 5 and will continue on the first and third Mondays of every month, except holidays, at the Community Center at Mercer View.

The need for such groups is greater now than ever with an increase in numbers of people with eating disorders, the skyrocketing costs of medical care and therapy, and the economic struggles many people are facing today.

EDSG is appropriate for people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, orthorexia nervosa or eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) as long as there is a drive for thinness present.

There will be two groups: one group for people with eating disorders and one for family, friends, or spouses.

The groups are free. Advance registration is not required. All facilitators have had direct experience with an eating disorder.

The EDSG is for you if you:

• Have a drive for thinness.

• Have anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or a related eating disorder.

• Are willing to focus on issues other than eating disorder behaviors.

• Have a daughter, spouse, or friend with an eating disorder.

• Want to learn about recovery.

All ages are welcome.
