The Mercer Island girls basketball team picked up a final win of the regular over Bellevue. The Islanders won 53-52.
Mercer Island was up 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and ended the second quarter up 22-18 over Wolverines. Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter, and while Bellevue outscored the Islanders 17-14 in the fourth quarter, Mercer Island won the game.
Julia Bluemstein had 17 points during the game, with Jamie Mounger adding 11 for the team. Renae Tessem had nine points, while Carly Andersen had five points, Sarah Marr, Ari Moscatel and Savanna Reid each had three points for Mercer Island, and Suri Johnson added two.
The Islanders earned the No. 6 seed going into the KingCo tournament, which start on Monday. Mercer Island will play at Liberty on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. The winner goes forward to play Lake Washington at Bellevue College at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
