This summer, the Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Department provides families with both indoor and outdoor places to play.
To escape those summer allergies, families have free access to the Mercer Island Community and Event Center’s (MICEC) indoor play area, called Leap’s Pad.
Leap’s Pad is a tidy play place that comes complete with books, blocks and other skill-building toys. Bordering the play area are benches, which serve as an easy location for parents to relax, chat and have a coffee, while watching their children.
Also at the MICEC is an outdoor Minkar play structure, where swings and slides are replaced with two mini climbing walls, a tipping balancing bar, hanging climbing gadgets, climbing rope webs, and monkey bars that twist into odd angles.
A short stroll away from the MICEC is one of the Island’s marquee parks: Luther Burbank Park.
The new, award winning, ADA compliant playground features a zip line, merry-go-round, climbing web, drop zone, and more.
The Mercer Island Community and Event Center, also known as “The MICEC”, is located at 8236 S.E. 24th Street.
