Theft: A 49-year-old Island woman reported to police that a mountain bike was taken from outside the east entrance to the North-end QFC. The bike is valued at $600.
September 1
Vehicle prowl: A motor vehicle was prowled sometime after 10 p.m. Sept. 1, in the 3200 block of 81st Place S.E. A 46-year-old woman told people that the vehicle registration and service records were stolen along with a black winter jacket. The passenger side window was broken on the Cooper Clubman. The loss was estimated at $650.
September 2
Vehicle prowl: A 77-year-old man who lives in the 2900 block of 76th Avenue S.E. reported that a solar panel portable charger was stolen from his vehicle sometime overnight. The Toyota SR5 was locked but a window was left partially open. The device is valued at $100.
Vehicle prowl: An 18-year-old man reported to police that sometime overnight, someone shattered the driver’s side window of his Ford Focus and damaged the vehicle dash board when they stole audio equipment in the 2900 block of 76th Avenue S.E. The loss is estimated at $750.
September 3
Fraud: A 79-year-old Island woman was defrauded out of $3,000 after someone called her pretending to be her granddaughter in jail. Victim sent the money via gift cards.
September 4
Burglary: A 63-year-old Island woman was notified by her credit card company that there was suspicious activity on one of her cards. The victim, who lives part time in California, was not at home at the time, and called a friend to check on her house as she believed that the card used was in her Mercer Island house. Her neighbor saw that the front door was open and there was a broken window in the bathroom. She called 911 – the home had been rummaged through.
Vehicle prowl: A 54-year-old man told police that two vehicles were prowled in the 8500 block of S.E. 45th Street between 2 p.m. Sept. 2 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 3. Nothing was taken from the two cars, a Pontiac Grand AM and a Dodge Intrepid. Both were unlocked.
