Pot in the park

An Island man discovered and reported two marijuana plants growing in the Lid Park on Nov. 23. The plants, which were approximately two feet in height, were removed for destruction.

Police pulled over a man for driving with a dead tail light on Nov. 28, only to find marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle. The man, a Bellevue resident, was arrested for driving under the influence, as he appeared to be high on the drug.

Police attempted to locate a subject at a residence in the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. to serve a subpoena for the Auburn Municipal Court on Nov. 30. Upon arrival, a non-involved subject consented to a search of the residence, during which a marijuana pipe and bong were located on the kitchen table. Items were seized and entered into evidence for destruction. The subject was contacted by phone and served with the subpoena later.

Car prowls

A woman living in the 4200 block of Shoreclub Drive reported that her purse was stolen from her unlocked car on Nov. 22. According to the police report, the thief used the woman’s credit card at five locations in Renton.

A woman living in the 5200 block of West Mercer Way reported that she caught two suspects attempting to enter her unlocked BMW on Nov. 28. The woman interrupted the crime and the suspects fled.

A woman living in the 9000 block of Shorewood Drive reported that her Volkswagen Golf was prowled on Nov. 28. According to the police report, the car was left unlocked. A Dell laptop computer was stolen.

Burglary

An unknown thief entered the apartment of a woman living in the 5900 block of S.E. 20th Street sometime between Nov. 21 and Nov. 24, and stole several items. According to the police report, the thief entered the above-garage apartment and stole a boombox stereo, framed photographs, pots and pans, and other household items. Several pieces of furniture and the resident’s flat-screen TV were not disturbed. There are no suspects.

Car accident

A three-car fender-bender accident occurred in the 3200 block of Island Crest Way on Nov. 25. According to the incident report, a vehicle heading southbound stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the street. The car behind stopped accordingly, but the third car in line did not stop in time and collided with the back of the second car, which hit the first car. No injuries were reported.

A two-car collision occurred in the 3600 block of 76th Avenue S.E. on Nov. 17. According to the police report, a vehicle lost control while traveling northbound on 76th Avenue S.E., struck a car parked on the side of the road and then spun 180 degrees and into the nearby ditch. Based on the length of the skids, police estimate that the car was going a minimum of 35 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone. No injuries were reported.

A two-car collision occurred in the intersection of East Mercer Way and a private driveway on Nov. 25. According to the police report, the East Mercer resident was pulling out of his driveway when an oncoming driver failed to stop in time and struck the front of the man’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A woman living in the 2200 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. reported that a vehicle drove onto her front yard and damaged a solar light and garden shrub on Nov. 28. Total damages are $35. No suspects were reported.

Theft

A woman living in the 9000 block of Shorewood Drive reported that somebody stole three packages on different occasions from her front door between Nov. 6 and Nov. 23. According to the incident report, the packages were taken after being left by the delivery service. The total loss is about $40.

Fraud

An Island woman reported that her bank card number was fraudulently used to purchase a block of minutes for a Verizon cell phone account on Nov. 24. According to the police report, approximately $60 was charged. A second charge for $900 was attempted but denied at an Arkansas Wall Mart.

An Island complainant reported check fraud on a business account for $1,701. According to the police report, the suspect apparently produced counterfeit checks with the correct account information and passed at least two checks that cleared in the victim’s account. Possible suspect information was identified.

Drunk driving

Police arrested a 17-year-old Bellevue resident for driving under the influence in the 4800 block of Island Crest Way on Nov. 28. According to the police report, the male was pulled over for improperly using multiple lanes of travel. He had an odor of alcohol and was asked to take a standard field sobriety test, which he failed.
