Eight bottles of alcohol were stolen from QFC in the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street on Wednesday evening. The suspect, a 57-year-old Seattle woman who was a known shoplifter, was seen going through the self check-out and neglecting to pay for the alcohol.

The suspect was detained a block away and arrested after video surveillance confirmed the shoplifting incident. The bottles of liquor were recovered.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: A 71-year-old Mercer Island man living in the 6100 block of 92nd Avenue N.E. was the target of an egging incident believed to have taken place sometime during the early hours of July 31. The victim’s deck and three of his cars were damaged as a result. The victim reported that this was the second time he had been egged in the past week.

The hood of a parked car was keyed in the Monaco Villa lot in the 2900 block of 76th Avenue S.E. The victim, a 58-year-old Mercer Island woman, believes the incident to have taken place between 8 p.m. on July 23 and 12 p.m. on July 24.

THEFT: A check worth $35 was stolen from the mailbox in the 7500 block of 86th Avenue S.E. around 10:18 a.m. The reporting party saw the theft take place after a black sedan drove up to the mailbox and steal the envelope.

THEFT: A diamond ring and gold wedding band were stolen from the home of a Mercer Island couple living in the 4800 block of 91st Avenue S.E. The theft is believed to have occurred during May 26-27. Victims suspect their au pair, a 23-year-old Mercer Island woman, due to the fact that she was the only person in the house during the time of the theft.

FRAUD: A 52-year-old Mercer Island man was victim of identity theft that occurred on July 27. Approximately $5,200 in fraudulent online charges were made without his knowledge.

Fraudulent credit card activity taking place on July 24 was reported by a 27-year-old Mercer Island woman. A total of $244 in charges were made.

ARRESTS: A 36-year-old Seattle man was arrested for an outstanding Mercer Island warrant at 8:06 p.m. He was later booked into the Issaquah Jail.

A 29-year-old Seattle man was arrested at 4:57 p.m. in the 2200 block of West Mercer Way after being stopped for driving with expired tabs and later discovered to be driving with a suspended license. The suspect was found to be the subject of a misdemeanor warrant, and was transported to the Bellevue Police Department.

THEFT: A bicycle was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 7400 block of West Mercer Way, where it had been locked up. The bike cable lock was cut and the victim, a 59-year-old Mercer Island man, suspects that the bike was taken between 8:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

DUI: A 24-year-old Mercer Island man was arrested at 4:26 a.m. in the 2200 block of 76th Avenue S.E. on suspicion of DUI after being involved in a single-car traffic accident. The suspect was processed and later released.

ARREST: A 47-year-old Seattle man was arrested for an outstanding Mercer Island warrant. He was taken into custody at 8:30 p.m. and booked into jail. The suspect is being held on $1,000 bail.

DISTURBANCE: At 5:58 p.m., police responded to reports of an assault at a residence in the 6000 block of S.E. 28th Street. Individuals involved at the scene were found to be intoxicated. Subjects were sent on their way after aid was declined and it was determined that the reporting party claiming to be the victim of the assault was acting belligerent prior to the episode and challenging others to confrontations.

ABANDONED VEHICLE: A 2008 Volvo found in the 8800 block of S.E. 44th Street around 3:27 p.m. was impounded after a license plate check confirmed that the owner was wanted by the Seattle Police Department in association with a burglary case.

Thursday | 8

CAR PROWL: A car prowl occurred between 12 a.m. and 6:60 a.m. in the 6200 block of 89th Avenue S.E. The victim, a 78-year-old Mercer Island man, reported that two of his unlocked vehicles in his carport had been entered, and that $10 in cash, a set of keys, and his Trek bike were stolen. An old bike was left on the property and is currently being investigated as evidence.
