Foundation ruined by Bobcat tractor | Police

Foundation damage: Someone drove a Bobcat tractor onto the newly poured foundation of a home in the 7200 block of West Ridge Road sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m. The foundation was scarred, and lumber already laid was chipped and cracked. Tire tracks on the foundation must be buffed out, according to the police report.

July 12

July 17

Explosives: A locked mailbox was damaged by explosives in the 7700 block of 81st Place S.E. sometime after July 15. The explosion separated the door from the unit. Orange residue was found inside the mailbox.

Accident: A 77-year-old man lost control of his vehicle after mixing up the gas pedal and brake while backing up as he attempted to turn around in a driveway at 11:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Mercer Way. He backed around an automatic gate, into brush, then ran over a cement light fixture, became high-centered and struck a boulder. No injuries were reported.

July 18

Bike theft: Someone stole a children’s Trek bicycle out of a carport in the 2400 block of 71st Avenue S.E. after 5 p.m. The bike was later found abandoned in the front yard.

July 19

Graffiti: A Renton man reported graffiti in the men’s restroom at Luther Burbank Park. The damages totaled $250.

Assault: An 18-year-old Seattle resident got into a fight with his brother during an argument at their parents’ home on Mercer Island. The suspect went to the house to pick up a debit card. The victim was injured. After being arrested at 8:59 p.m., the suspect was booked into the Issaquah Jail.

July 20

Liquor violation: Four male teenagers were cited for liquor possession at Groveland Beach in the 5700 block of 80th Avenue S.E. after midnight. Nearby residents heard the teens and suspected they were peering into windows. The group was huddled on the dock around a cooler that contained beer and vodka.

July 20

Fraud: An Island woman reported to police that her credit car had been used to make several fraudulent purchases over the Internet. Victim was not sure when or where her information had been stolen since she still had her card. The credit company had reimbursed the victim.

License violation: On July 20, around 10 p.m.  a 24-year old Island man driving a black 1997 Lexus was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the 3500 block of East Mercer Way. The vehicle’s license registration tag was found to be from another vehicle.

July 21

Information: A Renton woman contacted Mercer Island Police to request that an old murder investigation be re-opened.

Domestic violence: Just before midnight on July 21, Police responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment in the north-end. They contacted a 29-year -old  woman who had a fat, bloody lip. She stated her husband prevented her from leaving then assaulted her. The husband stated that his wife had attacked him in the bedroom and that he had to shield his 2-year-old son from her. The statements and injuries seemed to support the husband. The woman was arrested and booked into Issaquah jail for DV assault and battery.

July 22

Mail theft: A woman who lives on 68th Avenue S.E. reported that checks were stolen from her mailbox on July 22. She reported that she saw a black male wearing a white visor hat removed a piece of mail from her mailbox and drove away in a red compact car.

Shoplifting: An employee of Albertsons reported that a white man was seen leaving the store with items obviously hidden inside his jacket at around 11 p.m. on July 22. The employee confronted the man who refused to go back in the store. The man discarded three bottles of shampoo and hopped into the passenger seat of a dark blue Ford Ranger Pickup. The subject still had a large amount of items inside his jacket.

Shoplifting: Just after midnight on July 22, a 30-year-old man was arrested after shoplifting two bottles of red wine and AXE shampoo at Albertsons.

July 24

Deaths: A caregiver found the woman she was caring for dead at 3:45 p.m.  Police reported that the woman, 90 died of natural causes and had a DNR in place. In a separate incident, another woman reported the death of a 94-year-old woman at 11 p.m. Firefighters responded and confirmed the death.

July 25

Welfare check: Police conducted a welfare check on a possibly suicidal 59-year-old man. After receiving no response at the door, the police forced entry and found the man inside, unharmed.
