Farmers Market thanks the MI Community Fund

The Mercer Island Farmers Market has received a generous grant of $2,000 from the Community Fund for the 2009 season. These funds will be used to bring music to the market every Sunday, with a focus on Island musicians, and to support special entertainment for children. Last year, the Community Fund provided seed funding for the market to begin operations, the first tangible support from our community. Once again, the Community Fund is helping our market grow into an event that nourishes our community as it supports local farmers and farmland.

Last year, the Community Fund provided seed funding for the market to begin operations, the first tangible support from our community. Once again, the Community Fund is helping our market grow into an event that nourishes our community as it supports local farmers and farmland.

Our Farmers Market will begin its second season on June 21 for 15 Sundays, with even more vendors and variety of produce. A kick-off event will be held on June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Town Center Fire Station for all who are interested in volunteering at the market. Visit www.mifarmersmarket.org for more information.
