The National PTA and the Connecticut PTSA are working to help the community of Newtown, Conn. and the Sandy Hook PTA, and are asking for help from local schools and PTA’s.

“National PTA and the Connecticut PTSA pledge our unwavering support to the Newtown community. In the past few days, we have met with PTA leaders of all of the schools in Newtown, including the Sandy Hook PTA, and community leaders who have requested our help in supporting the families,” said a press release from the National PTA.

One way local students and families can help is by creating snowflakes for Sandy Hook. Parent volunteers are working to make sure that when students from Sandy Hook go back to school in the new year the entire school is decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible to create a winter wonderland.

“We encourage senders to be as creative as possible, remembering that no two snowflakes are alike,” said the National PTA. “Please make and send snowflakes by Jan. 12.”

Donations are also being accepted to the Connecticut PTSA’s Sandy Hook Fund, which will help provide ongoing support to the community.
