The Mercer Island girls tennis team beat Newport 5-2 on Thursday afternoon.

In the singles competition, Newport’s Angela Chen beat Lydia Venditti 6-0, 6-0, while her sister Gabby Venditti beat Allison Lee 6-0, 6-2. Melanie Lee beat Lilly Hou 6-1, 6-0 and Carissa Ham beat Lucy Wang 6-1, 6-1.

Newport’s second win of the match came in the doubles competition when Jane Choi and Emily Chen beat Caroline Dillon and Caroline Hamilton 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Ashley Larson and Jamie Mounger beat Erica Hsia and Ashley Sun 6-4, 6-2. In the final match of the game, Miji Suhr and Sarah Sweet beat Sara Park and Kari Nasu 6-2, 6-2.
