Mercer Island football heads to playoffs | Sports brief

Islanders will face the Bonney Lake Panthers Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

Although it was a tough end to the regular season for Mercer Island last Friday, losing to first-place Bellevue 49-7, Mercer Island football will be in the playoffs.

Finishing with a 4-3 conference record, the Islanders tied with Juanita for the final playoff spot. Mercer Island owned the tiebreaker after beating the Rebels earlier in the season. The Islanders will face the Bonney Lake Panthers Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner at 7 p.m. The Panthers finished their season with a 4-1 conference record and an overall record of 4-5.
