Car prowl
Six vehicles were prowled in the 4600 block of 86th Avenue S.E. between 9 p.m. on June 24 and 5:20 a.m., June 25. $200 in cash, a wallet and ID were stolen. One vehicle’s window was smashed. Photographs and fingerprints were taken.
A window was smashed and $40 cash was taken from a car parked in the 9800 block of S.E. 35th Place on the night of July 1.
Theft
$3,400 worth of wine was stolen from an unlocked shed during the night of June 21 in the 4400 block of 92nd Avenue S.E. The victim heard three knocks outside at 5 a.m.
A construction worker witnessed two teenagers steal two cases of Budlight beer from the South-end QFC at 8:30 p.m. on June 24. They drove off in a green Volvo with tinted windows.
A desktop computer and jewelry were stolen from a home in the 8600 block of North Mercer Way between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on June 26. The burglar broke a second-floor window with a rock and entered by climbing onto the garage roof. More items may have been stolen.
A Rolex watch and flatscreen TV were stolen from a home in the 2800 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. while the resident was gone between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 26. The burglar entered by throwing a rock through a window. Fingerprints and photos were taken.
A Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot on S.E. 26th Street near the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. between 2 p.m., June 28, and 10 a.m., June 29. The victim’s daughter had keys to the car, but she did not take it.
A stolen car was found abandoned in an Islander’s backyard in the 9700 block of S.E. 35th Street on the morning of July 1.
A car was stolen from a condominium parking lot in the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. on the night of June 28.
Found
A set of five keys with QFC and Denali Fitness cards was found in the 6800 block of S.E. 33rd Street and turned into police at 6 p.m. on June 24.
Arrests
Seven Island teens were arrested and released to their parents in the 8400 block of S.E. 36th Street around 1:20 a.m. on July 1, moments after an employee of the South-end QFC called police to report seeing the teens steal beer from the back of the store. According to the police report, an officer stopped a SUV occupied by the teens and found that they had been drinking and had a 12-pack of beer.
A 51-year-old Island resident was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs after she drove off the roadway and crashed into a light pole at a very slow speed in the 2900 block of 78th Avenue S.E. around 12:35 a.m. on July 3. According to the police report, the driver appeared impaired and was field-tested for alcohol, but the results were negative. Aid crews checked for medical conditions as the driver was taken to a Seattle hospital.
Auto accident
Both drivers involved in an accident complained of back and neck pain after a collision in the 4800 block of East Mercer Way around 5:15 p.m. on June 29. According to the accident report, a 20-year-old Island resident was shifting gears around a sharp curve when he lost control of his vehicle, skidded across the center lane and struck a 17-year-old girl driving northbound. The young man was cited with reckless driving.
