Curtis bests boys water polo, boys golf beats Bellevue, boys tennis falls to Newport.

Volleyball beats Interlake

Mercer Island volleyball remained undefeated after earning a league win over Interlake Tuesday, beating the Saints 25-21, 25-10, 25-11 at Mercer Island High School.

Jemma Yeadon posted 17 kills, eight digs, a block and six aces for the Islanders. Natalie Robinson registered 33 assists along with five kills and two aces, and Kelly Behrbaum had seven kills and two aces.

The Islanders (8-0, 4-0) are back in action tonight, taking on Sammamish at 7 p.m. at Sammamish High School.

Girls soccer beats Sammamish

Mercer Island girls soccer improved to 8-0, beating Sammamish 3-1 Tuesday night at Sammamish High School. No individual scores were reported. The Islanders (8-0, 4-0) will take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Liberty High School.

Curtis bests boys water polo

In their second matchup of the season, Curtis scored three goals in each of the final three periods against Mercer Island to beat the Islanders 10-7 Monday at Mercer Island Country Club.

David Ling scored 4 goals to lead Curtis, while Conner Vacca scored 4 goals for the Islanders.

Mercer Island has two road games next week, taking on Shorewood Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Roosevelt Thursday, Oct. 8.

Boys golf beats Bellevue

Mercer Island boys golf earned a league win over Bellevue Monday, beating the Wolverines 197-199 at Twin Rivers Golf Course.

Islander Zach Evens posted the day’s lowest score, shooting a 35. Drew Christofferson placed fourth, posting a 39, while Zach Gottesman tied for fifth, finishing with 40 strokes.

The Islanders will take on Liberty at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Twin Rivers.

Boys tennis falls to Newport

Mercer Island boys tennis lost its first meet of the season, falling to Newport 4-3 Monday at Newport High School. No individual scores were reported. The Islanders will host Juanita at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at MIHS.
