Soccer team earns second big tournament win of the summer; Little Cheer Clinics begin Sept. 10.

Mercer Island FC U10 wins Snohomish tournament

The Mercer Island FC U10 girls were winners at the Snohomish Bigfoot 2015 soccer tournament Aug. 13-16. Going 8-0 in tournament play, Mercer Island outlasted Seattle United in penalty kicks to win the final 5-4. It was Mercer Island’s second big tournament win of the summer.

Mercer Island FC U10 team members include Alyssa Boden, Peyton Sandwith, Amelie Schmid, Laleh Youssefieh, Ava Yeh, Kalyn Beckner, Annabel Little, Kate Yang, Claire Veljovich and Christine O’Donnell. The team is coached by Mark Sandwith and trained by Kayla Kliphardt.

Little Cheer Clinics begin Sept. 10

Elementary and preschool girls and boys interested in cheering with the Mercer Island High School varsity cheerleaders may sign up for Little Cheer Clinics, which will take place Sept. 10 and 15.

Clinics will run from 4-5 p.m. and will culminate in a performance with the varsity cheerleaders at the MIHS home football game on Sept. 18.
