INTOXICATED MINOR: At 8:55 the Mercer Island High School principal reported a possibly intoxicated student at the football game. An officer talked with the student, who was “unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech.” The 17-year-old Mercer Island boy provided a voluntary breath sample of .140. The teen was taken into custody and released to his father.

Sept. 25

THEFT: At 11:03 a.m. police received a report of theft from the Rite Aid store. According to the report, the theft suspect attempted to return an item he’d taken from a store shelf. The clerk noticed the item had just been put out and that the suspect’s bag was another store item. The suspect allegedly did not have a receipt for the items and fled the store with an “Overland Travelware mega duffel” filled with an unknown number of items. The theft alarm sounded as the suspect fled, which indicated that the bag contained stolen items from the store, according to the report.

Sept. 28

THEFT: At 4:26 p.m. a 20-year-old Mercer Island woman reported that her Apple Macbook computer disappeared from her apartment after her roommate had some friends over earlier in the month.

Sept. 29

FOUND: At 10:47 a.m. a Bellevue man reported a GURU Geneo 20 speed bike left unattended on the side of the road in the 4500 block of Island Crest Way. Police found the bike, which was damaged, and submitted it as found property.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: At 1:03 a.m. a 39-year-old Mercer Island woman reported that his vehicle had been damaged by a brick. Police responded to find the woman’s damaged Chevrolet Blazer and the brick — with a note attached — in the 6100 block of S.E. 30th Street.

Sept. 30

DRUGS: At 10:21 a.m. a Mercer Island mother reported that she searched her 15-year-old son’s backpack after she suspected him under the influence of drugs. She reportedly found “a small container stuffed with marihuana.” Police responded, confiscated 1.24 grams of marijuana and arrested the teen in the 3700 block of 78th Avenue S.E.

Oct. 1

THEFT: At 3:42 p.m. a 16-year-old Issaquah teen reported that a pair of black “Lululemon” pants and a pair of black and white slip-on shoes were stolen from her locker at Mercer Island High School.

FRAUD: At 9:42 a.m. an 89-year-old Mercer Island woman claimed that she “invested as much as $100,000 with an 84-year-old Mercer Island man over the past eight years.” The woman now suspects the investment was a scam.

Oct. 2:

VEHICLE PROWL: At 8:35 a.m. a 27-year-old Mercer Island man reported that someone had broken the driver’s side window of his Toyota Prius in the 8300 block of E. Mercer Way. A black iPod touch and charger were missing from the car. Police were unable to find fingerprints for possible later identification.

Oct. 3

PEEPING TOMS: At 11:07 p.m. Police received a report of two 17-year-old Mercer Island boys who “knowingly peeked into underage girls’ windows for sexual gratification,” according to the report. The teens spied on two 16-year-old girls in the 7700 block of S.E. 58th Street. The boys suspected of the crime were identified, arrested and booked into King County Juvenile Detention.
