The first of its kind, the indoor soccer clinic over the last two weeks at PEAK has been a total hit with kids on the Island.

Wednesday, 19 kids in the 5-8 age group chased soccer balls and cheered with their coaches during the morning practice.

The program, founded by Jennifer Kaye with British and Irish coaches Stephen Potter, Chris Sheridan and Mark Logue, filled up so quickly, Kaye said they had to turn people away.

Kaye, whose young son has been learning the game, decided a more local option was needed for parents and kids, who otherwise had to drive long distances sometimes for practices and clinics.

Already, she said they’ve planned to have a spring and summer program for youth soccer players.

The coaches, who all play overseas in semi-professional leagues, have spent the last two weeks running the clinics and teaching private classes in the afternoon.

Potter said it’s been a great trip, very busy, but fun to be able to run the clinic and really teach the kids about soccer and leave their stamp here.

The trio will head back to England next week, having just missed the snow there that caused a mess for travelers.
