Four Mercer Island residents recently earned awards through the Junior Eastside Tennis league. The league, which is comprised of 23 clubs in the area, including the Mercer Island Beach Club and the Mercer Island Country Club, lets kids 6 to 18 play in weekly matches.

Nathan Benson won the MICC Sportsmanship award, Ian Platou earned the runner up trophy for U14 boys singles and Adele Parsons and Claire Ducharme took first place in the U14 girls doubles competition.

The league has over 1,000 participants and has been running since 1978.
