As Tip O’Neil once famously said, “All Politics Is Local.” So it was with great interest when I read your interview of Rep. Judy Clibborn and her role in the I-90 tolling debacle.

Her comment that “My job is to provide funding for transportation statewide” when asked why she didn’t include funding for Highway 520 in her latest $10 billion dollar transportation proposal was stunning. Ms. Clibborn has forgotten the fact that she was elected to represent the 41st District. Her role is to advocate for her constituents, not so that she can play the role of a kingmaker in Olympia. It is clear that Ms. Clibborn would rather have a seat at the table of power than effectively represent her district, which is totally opposed to tolling I-90.

All politics are indeed local and it is long past time we found someone who will represent us in Olympia. It is time to recall Judy Clibborn now and find someone willing to stand up and fight for Mercer Island at this critical juncture. No tolling on I-90!
