An early morning report of ducks down a storm drain at Lakeridge Elementary School led police to rescue 12 ducklings on Sunday.

Sergeant Ryan Parr and Officer Bob DeLashmutt found the ducklings six feet down the drain at 8:15 a.m., June 30. A distressed mother duck was pacing around the drain.

Parr removed the iron grate and used a fishing net to lift the ducklings out. The mother was then reunited with her ducklings, and led them into the Lakes neighborhood.

During a similar incident in early May, Lakes residents rescued 13 ducklings out of a storm drain with firefighters’ help.
