Missing purse: An Island woman, who lives in the 8400 block of SE 68th St., made several purchases at multiple locations on the south end of Mercer Island between 3 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. When she went home, she discovered that her purse was missing. The purse contained cash, gift cards and credit cards. The credit cards had already been used in Renton and Tukwila.

Fraud: An Island woman in the 8000 block of SE 65th St. said that in May 2015, she started receiving phone calls from a cell phone company in San Francisco. They said someone bought a cell phone using her maiden name and Social Security number.

Stolen property: The Mercer Island Police Department (MIPD) stopped a vehicle in the 7600 block of SE 40th St. with plates associated with a stolen vehicle, but said it appeared to be a Department of Licensing (DOL) error. The plates were seized and sent to the DOL.

Criminal impersonation: A suspect impersonated a Wells Fargo account holder and successfully obtained $5,800 in cash in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE. The victim was a Los Angeles man, and the incident was reported by an Island woman.

Child sexual offenses: An Island woman in the 3400 block of 77th Place SE said her 13-year-old daughter was contacted via email through a social media site by an account looking for explicit conversation.

Suicide threat: MIPD contacted an Island man in the 4800 block of Forest Ave. SE who said he wanted to commit suicide by drinking a half gallon of bourbon. He was highly intoxicated and wanted treatment, and was found to have a warrant out of King County. He was placed on mental health hold, and the county was advised where he would be lodged for the next few hours.

Fraud: An Island man in the 6700 block of West Mercer Way said his information was used to file a federal tax return without his knowledge or permission.

Jan. 21

Found property: A child’s bike was found in the 4700 block of Island Crest Way. It was placed in the sally port at MIPD.

Jan. 22

Lost property: An Island woman said she lost a packet of personal information at the Park and Ride in the 8000 block of North Mercer Way. The packet contained bank statements, account numbers and Social Security numbers. She was given information on identity theft and advised to contact a credit monitoring agency.

Jan. 24

Minor, liquor violation: Police contacted a juvenile male in the 2800 block of 61st Ave. SE. He was released to his father after being checked medically by the Mercer Island Fire Department.

Woman involuntarily committed: Police contacted a woman behind Herzl-Ner Tamid in the 3700 block of East Mercer Way. She was seen leaving the MIPD parking lot and was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was involuntarily committed to Overlake Medical Center.

Burglary: Unknown suspects burglarized an Island home in the 9000 block of SE 79th St. A bedroom window had been broken. A residential alarm sounded and the suspects left through the front door without stealing any items. MIPD recovered blood evidence.
