Mercer Island High School students recently earned several honors and awards in various competitions over the past two weeks.
Junior George Lejnine won three awards at the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair. He won the Options and Photonics award, and the Institute of Electrical Engineering award, and took second place in the senior division competition.
Junior Steven Adler competed in the National Debate Championships on April 24 in Washington, D.C., where he finished as the eighth best speaker in the country.
Three students were named as 2010 American Association of University Women scholars. Those include Alisa Owens for math, Ella Matthew for technology and Martina Unutzer for science.
Three senior students were given top honors in the Mercer Island Visual Arts League scholarship competition. James Suh won first place, Tim Malcolm was second and Olivia Wold was third.
