Seattle Sounders rookie and Mercer Island native Jordan Morris is among ESPN’s 2016 ESPY nominations for Best Male College Athlete.
Morris is one of five nominees for the award category, including Derrick Henry of Alabama (football), Buddy Hield of Oklahoma (basketball), Jarrion Lawson of Arkansas (track and field) and Alex Dieringer of Oklahoma State (wrestling).
Prior to signing with the Sounders in January, Morris led the Stanford men’s soccer team to the program’s first NCAA championship in December 2015. Morris scored twice in the 4-0 title win over Clemson and was named the postseason tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
