The GRAMMY Foundation has selected 142 talented high school students from 117 U.S. cities and 30 U.S. states to participate in the 12th annual GRAMMY Camp program.
This includes Mercer Island High School sophomore Sophie Feldman, who was accepted into the GRAMMY Camp from July 31-Aug. 8 at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, New York.
This nine-day residential program will offer Feldman an interactive summer music experience in songwriting.
The foundation’s other music industry camp for U.S. high school students will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, from May 31–June 4 at Belmont University and in Los Angeles from June 18–27 at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
“From the beginning, GRAMMY Camp was designed to give high school students an extraordinary experience and hands-on lessons about making a career in the music industry,” said Neil Portnow, president/CEO of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation. “Whether residential or day sessions, GRAMMY Camp fosters genuine learning and skill-building, and perhaps more importantly, a spirit of collaboration among the teenage participants that will benefit them in whatever professional paths they follow.”
Financial aid is available and approximately 90 percent of GRAMMY Camp participants who have applied for financial aid have received assistance.
