Mercer Island Parks and Recreation announced that the fitness room at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC) is now equipped with new cardio and strength machines, and the community is invited to try it out for free.
New Precor machines and equipment — including three treadmills, two elliptical trainers, a recumbent bike, spin bike, stair stepper and a complete set of circuit training equipment — were installed in the 1,385-square-foot facility in July.
The fitness room also features a bench press, free weights, adjustable benches, a TV, kettle balls and mirrors, along with a full window wall with territorial and Cascade Mountain views.
Mercer Island Parks and Recreation invites patrons to participate in a free orientation in the Fitness Room at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 to learn from personal trainers Susie Rosenstein, Eric Salvetti and a Precor professional how the new equipment can be used for optimal and safe results. All orientation attendees receive a free pass to work out in the fitness room that day, after orientation, until 7 p.m.
The fitness room is available to guests ages 13 and up during all hours the MICEC is open, with the exception of Wednesdays from 8-9 a.m., when it is closed for recreation programming. Patrons can participate on a drop-in basis, or with a fitness pass.
Fitness passes range from monthly, 90 days, six months, yearly or 20 punch card passes, with additional options that include combination access to Open Gym. Pricing varies depending upon age and resident or non-resident status.
