Mercer Island Fire Department responded to an unconfirmed structure fire in the 4100 block of 97th Ave. SE on Saturday.
The call came from a neighbor, who saw smoke emerging from the roof of the house behind him. Within a few minutes, the homeowner called 911 confirming structure fire of her residence.
The fire was upgraded to a full response, and units from Bellevue and Eastside Fire and Rescue were also on the scene. A total of four engines, two ladder trucks and two battalion commanders were assigned to this incident.
Twenty-two personnel were utilized to extinguish the fire, which was predominantly in the attic space. The fire was immediately knocked down and deemed extinguished within 20 minutes. The last fire unit cleared the scene after three hours.
The fire is currently being investigated to determine the cause.
