The Mercer Island School District notified neighbors of the mega block around Mercer Island High School about upcoming events at the school that are likely to require parking beyond the capacity of school district parking lots.

On-street parking for these events is allowed under a 2007 agreement between the school district, Boys & Girls Club and the City of Mercer Island. A maximum of 30 event days per year are allowed.

The 2012-2013 school year list includes 22 event days so that others may be added as necessary.

Additions and changes will be posted to the district’s website on the Mercer Island High School page at www.mercerislandschools.org.

The first event is an all-day school district training session on Monday, Aug. 27. Next is the fall assembly at the high school on the morning of Friday, Aug. 31. Later that day will be the first Mercer Island High School home football game at 7 p.m. at Islander Stadium.
