As it happens every August, members of the Mercer Island High School marching band, such as sophomores Haley Chin, left, and Jolie Shen, check out their uniforms. Last week, after a successful campaign that raised $133,000 to replace the 30-year-old wool blazers and slacks, the 300-plus strong group tried on the new uniforms for the first time. The band will hold a thank-you event for donors and the community on the evening of Sept. 11, just prior to the first home football game. See our Calendar for details.
