Robert Duncan Tonningsen

December 18, 1930 – November 7, 2012

Longtime resident of Mercer Island and later Redmond, Dr. Tonningsen was a native of Alameda, CA, where he practiced dentistry for many years in private practice. His years in Washington were devoted to his friends and family. He lived a life filled with love for his many friends, opera, skiing, good food, sailing, golf and bridge. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Tonningsen, and eldest son, Eric D. Tonningsen. He is survived by his sons Peter K. and Duncan J. Tonningsen, daughter, Kirstin Tonningsen McAuley, and four grandchildren. On his request, no services will be held. The family asks that remembrances be made to The Breast Cancer Resource Center of the Seattle Foundation, 1200 5th Ave. Ste. 1300, Seattle, WA, 98101-3151.
