Arthur Norman Pozner
May 19, 1928 – April 12, 2010
Arthur Pozner, a 29-year resident of Mercer Island before moving to Thousand Oaks, CA in 2007 to be near his children and grandchildren, succumbed to congestive heart failure in the early morning hours of Monday, April 12, 2010. Art was much beloved by friends and family, known for his outsized personality and his nearly inexhaustible supply of jokes and one liners on seemingly any subject. Equally well known was his affinity for dogs, and theirs for him. Whether they were dogs owned by him, family members, his neighbors, or even strangers, Art maintained many canine friends throughout his life. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Art held deep affection for Purdue University, where he earned Bachelors of Science degrees in Mathematics and Physics. After a stint in the Army, he earned a Masters in Mathematics from Virginia Tech.He enjoyed a long and varied aerospace engineering career, working at companies such as Hughes, TRW, and Boeing. Notable projects he contributed to include the Surveyor probes of the Moon, the Boeing 737, the B2 Stealth Bomber, and the Boeing 777. He found great fulfillment in his later years bowling and performing stand-up comedy routines at clubs in the Seattle area. He continued these pursuits with zest after relocating to Thousand Oaks. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Lenington, son-in-law Nick, granddaughters Grace and Kate of Thousand Oaks, CA, and son Neal of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Barbara and his sister Janet. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
