Nancy Rauch Hightchew
Once in a million years a woman like you arises. You were taken by the sky and the stars are in pieces now. The angels will hold and carry your soul. All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray. A dandelion dies in the wind, but a butterfly is free to fly. So turn me loose from your hands God, let me fly to distant lands, over the rainbow and over the moon to a place called Shangri-la. The sun rose in our hearts when we were around you, but the sun set before your rainbow was complete. Your candle burned out slow, but was only painful for these who loved you and was fragrant until the end. And now along with the stars our hearts are in pieces also. Your undying love for helping people and animals will never be forgotten. You were a Golden person. You helped everyone in one way or another. Everything you did for the March of Dimes, Children’s Hospital, University Hospital, the Heart Association, the Cancer Society, the Special Olympics, The National Head Injury Foundation, Harborview Medical Center, and especially the Harborview trauma center. And we can never forget our dear friends at the Humane Society, the A.S.P.C.A, the World Wildlife Foundation, and all the children you cared for and loved so dearly. There are stars shining bright above you, birds singing in the Sycamore trees, so please dream a little dream of me. You are a white-winged dove and a butterfly now flying over the rainbow. How wonderful life was while you were in the world. Life was golden with you in it. I’ll see you again in the stars Mom, because butterflies are free to fly. Now God gets to hug and kiss you goodnight. “I’m so glad we had this time together.” – Love Liz
