Pauline Barbara Fishman Reiter
6/3/44 – 5/27/16
Pauline Barbara Fishman Reiter died peacefully surrounded by family after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Born and raised in New York City, she reluctantly settled in Seattle in 1969 when her husband, Jack, began a pediatric residency with Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Pauline quickly made Seattle her home, involving herself in many different local communities and organizations including serving as the president of the board of directors for Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation, Hillel at the University of Washington, and KUOW.
The family requests that donations in her memory be made to any of those three organizations or to the Kaplan Research Fund at the Swedish Cancer Institute. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a wonderful guide to the many students she counseled through College Placement Consultants, the business she built after receiving her PhD.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Sam Fishman, and her sister, Rhoda Eisen. She is survived by her husband of almost fifty years, Jack Reiter and her three children, Ilyse (Greg) Wagner, Jodi (Vince) Ready, and Scott (Rachel) Reiter as well as by her eight grandchildren, Shayna, Risa, and Bailey Wagner, Maeli and Ethan Ready, and Ezra, Eliana, and Dalia Reiter.
