Alice H. Wall

Alice H. Wall was born on Dec. 27, 1918, in Florence, S.C., and died on June 22, 2009.

Both Mrs. Wall and her husband, William S. Wall, were longtime members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, starting in 1954, when Emmanuel was a mission church through its transition from an East Seattle location on Mercer Island to its present location near the Mercer Island library. Mrs. Wall was the first secretary at Emmanuel and worked with the first full-time priest, Fr. Matthew Bigliardi, who later became the Bishop of Oregon. After many years as Fr. “B’s” secretary, Alice and Bill Wall both worked for the Diocese of Olympia and later as directors of the church retreat/convention center at Camp Huston in Gold Bar, Wash. Mrs. Wall is survived by her three children and two of their spouses: Chip and Barb Wall, of Seattle; Nancy Wall, of Redmond; and Jim and Annette, of Carnation; five grandsons, Chris, Tim, Jason, Gabe and Seth; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island. Remembrances are suggested to a favorite charity or Emmanuel Church.
