MYRTLE E. FORD

Myrtle E. Ford died September 15 in Bellevue. Born June 12, 1912 in Clear Lake, WA to Daniel T. and Anna Rowley Sherblom, she was raised in Seattle and graduated from Ballard High School in 1931. She graduated a Registered Nurse, in Seattle General Hospital’s Class of 1934. She was honored in 2008 as one of Washington State’s early professional nurses. In 1936 Myrtle married Paul S. Ford. More than 50 years of happiness included three children. Myrtle and Paul were active in Emmanuel Church, Mercer Island and Mercerwood Shore Club. She was a member of CPA Wives Club, Gamma Phi Beta Mothers Club and Seattle General Hospital Alumni Association. Widowed, she married Allan N. Cooper when she was 85. Her children are Sally J. Brown (Larry) Mercer Island, James F. Ford (Robyn) Rocklin, CA, and Kathleen M. Ford (Jimmy Ross) Hansville, WA. Grandchildren are Dr. Carrie York Williams (Mark), Brice S. York (Megan Nichols) Mercer Island and Erin Ford Dixon (Randy) Grass Valley, CA. Great grandchildren are Chase York, Braden and Elisabeth Williams and Ani Dixon. Niece Karin Burrows (Donald) Marysville, WA. and nephew Richard K. Johnson (Lynne) Green Valley, AZ. and stepchildren Lynne Cooper (Gery Kroon) Port Townsend, WA and Allan Roy Cooper, San Luis Obispo, CA. All treasure her for her positive attitude, love of family, sense of humor and banana cream pies. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, October 4, at 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mercer Island. A reception will follow at the Women’s University Club, 1105 6th Ave. Seattle. Remembrances to People’s Memorial Association, Seattle or Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mercer Island or Evergreen Hospice, Kirkland.
