Esther Scott McGee

Esther Scott McGee died peacefully on

January 3, 2011, at Covenant Shores Health Center in Mercer Island, Washington. She was 85 years old. Esther was born on February 24, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to Kenneth and Edythe(Cave) Scott. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Otterbein College, where she met her future husband, Roger McGee. First and foremost, Esther cherished her role as homemaker for her family. She cooked, sewed, and kept a safe and warm nest for those she loved. In 1996, Esther and Roger moved to Covenant Shores Retirement Community in Mercer Island, Washington, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. At Covenant Shores, Esther enjoyed getting to know new people by writing profiles for Shorelines, the community newsletter. She participated in line dancing and the Women’s Chorus and volunteered at the gift shop and Health Center. She always loved to be with family, and she passed away with family members by her side. Survivors include her husband Roger; daughters Rose and Margaret and son Brian; grandsons Kern, Rory, Trey, Tynan, and Braden McGee and Max Philipson; son-in-law David Schroeder and daughter-in-law Kathe Kern. Esther was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Scott. A memorial service was held at the Fellowship Hall in Covenant Shores.
