Robert Guy Levengood, born on Aug. 14, 1922, in Jamestown, N.D., and a resident of Mercer Island since 1963, died on April 30, 2009. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Following service in the Navy, he attended and graduated from the University of Washington. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Mr. Levengood retired from Shell oil in 1984. He enjoyed golf, skiing and many other activities, especially Mercerdale Park, where he walked with his dog, Missy, most mornings and made good friends.

Mr. Levengood is survived by his wife, Madlyne (Lindy) Levengood; daughter, Gae Petschel; and grandchildren, Laura, Drew and Molly Petschl.
