David S. Caldwell

David was born on August 3, 1953 in Terra Haute, Indiana and passed away on October 21, 2010 at his home on the west side of Whidbey Island. He loved being near the ocean so that he could walk the beach, watch large ships go by and fish with his sons and his brother. David was a master at smoking the salmon he caught on the shore. He also raised a menagerie of pets including a wild chickadee that would eat from his hand. David graduated from Southern Illinois University specializing in Communications and Photo-

graphy. He lived and worked on Mercer Island for many years and was loved and respected by all he met. He married twice and moved to Whidbey Island where he raised three brilliant children and then sent them all to college. He is survived by his parents, Waneta and Robert, his brothers Gene and Peter, his sister Polly, and his ex-wives Alia and Beth, his two sons Spencer and Taylor, and his daughter Elena. We all miss him greatly and will hold a private family memorial service later in the springtime.
