Evelyn M. Goodman
Evelyn M. Goodman, age 92, peacefully
passed away June 8, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospice, in Auburndale, FL.
Since 2006, she lived in Bartow with her daughter, Christine M. Miller, and husband, Keith. She was born on August 28, 1918 in Bellingham, Washington. Evelyn moved to Seattle after marrying Clifton R. Goodman, then moving to Wenatchee, WA. She worked as a medical records cleck for the Wenatchee Valley Clinic. It was there she met her lifelong traveling companion Ruth Pickering. In 1968, she moved to Mercer Island, WA, working in the billing office at Virginia Mason Clinic. Retiring after 37 years, she dedicated herself to volunteering at the Mercer Island Thrift Shop until her second ‘retirement’ in 2006. She was greatly loved as mother, sister, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Tanya Anne Goodman Sylvester, of Mercer Island, Christine Marie Miller (Keith), and son Thomas Michael Goodman (Margaret) of Snohomish, WA, grandchildren; Hunter Sylvester, Whitney Sylvester Sackman (Nick), Mary Kate Goodman Eaton (Paul), Christopher Michael Goodman, Erin Marie Curtiss, Capt. Marc Miller (Marian), Maj. Keith Miller (Darcy), and Milissa Friermuth (Kirk), and four great grandchildren; Taylor, Amanda, Lillian, and Dane. She also leaves behind a brother Gordan Den Adel (Betty) and niece, Kathleen Owens (Gomer)of Bellingham, WA. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Bartow. Besides her enjoyment from volunteer work, cruising, warm weather, and family were her passions. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She has joined in death with her dear friend, Ruth. “Bon Voyage!” Graveside services will be held at a later date in Bellingham, WA. A memorial service will be held on June 25 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow.
