Elizabeth M. “Betty” Trachy
Elizabeth M. “Betty” Trachy, a long-time resident of Mercer Island, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016 while residing in Bothell.
Born June 8, 1924 in Alameda, CA, Betty spent her teenage and young adult years in Honolulu where she met her husband Roger while he was serving in the Army. They married in Honolulu in 1945 before moving to Culver City, CA.
Betty and Roger raised their family on both coasts before finally settling on Mercer Island in 1963. They were founding members of the Congregational Church on Mercer Island. Betty loved to dance and continued dancing well into her eighties. Betty was an avid golfer, bridge player, world traveler, and cat lover. She also was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Jim Miller of Phoenix, son and daughter-in-law Ron and Beth Trachy of Bothell, son Steve Trachy of Bellevue, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her later years.
A ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 28 at the Congregational Church of Mercer Island. Memorial gifts may be made to Evergreen Hospice Services, 12822 124th Lane NE, Kirkland, WA 98034.
