Irving (Stan) Stanislaw
Mr. Irving (Stan) Stanislaw of Mercer Island died on June 22, 2010 at the age of 96. What sustained him throughout life and to the end were his family, children Richard Miles Stanislaw of Sun Valley, Jean Enersen of Seattle and Marie Stanislaw of Vashon Island and his grandchildren Kristin, Jody and Brewster Stanislaw, Cassie and Natalie Abel and Jenny and Sarah Skinner. His wife Evelyn died in 1995.Stan and Evelyn moved to Seattle from Brooklyn, New York in 1947. He was known in Seattle for his business acumen. He worked for 23 years for Allied stores and his position before leaving Allied was senior vice president in charge of merchandising at the Bon Marche in Seattle. He served on the Jay Jacobs board and was a founding board member of the Seattle Opera, serving on its finance committee. Stan loved the Pacific Northwest and was an avid trout fisherman, snow skier, and gardener. He taught many teens to water ski on Lake Washington and loved having young people around. Stan was an adored father and grandfather and was known for his wisdom, constancy, and love of the out of doors and sports. Although a shy man, Stan made friends wherever he went.
