Norma Patricia Bennett
Beloved mother and wife Norma Patricia Bennett, age 92, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2012. Norma met and married Joseph Bennett in Seattle in 1949 and they were happily married for 52 years. Together they raised six children. Norma was a devoted mother and loved baking and sharing cookies as well as hosting family parties. She was an avid golfer into her 80’s, being a charter member at Sahalee Country Club. She was born and raised in Astoria, Oregon, and was the daughter of Chris and Lydia Siverson. Chris was a fisherman and Norma helped him fish during summer breaks. Norma graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in music where she became an accomplished pianist. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority making many lifelong friends. She remained a loyal Beaver fan her entire life despite each of her 6 children graduating from the University of Washington, a source of pride for her and Joseph.Norma was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2002 and their faithful companion Happy. Survivors include her six children: Morrie, Chris (Renay), Diane (Michael Goodreau), Gary (Margo), Janice Krekow (Ken), Jim (Dawn), 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, George Siverson.There will be a memorial service on Friday, August 31 at 12 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8501 SE 40th Street, Mercer Island, WA. Remembrances may be made to the church’s Emergency Feeding Program.
