Sally Mary Rutkowski died on Feb. 12, 2009. Born Sally Bixby in Seattle in 1944, she graduated from Mercer Island High School and Washington State University, and worked for over 25 years at The Boeing Company in the Human Resources Department, where she loved solving problems for hard-working, stressed employees, and hated corporate (and government) idiocy. She was a passionate and devoted mother and grandmother, an avid gardener, and — in an era when people do less with their hands — cherished hand-crafted things. She was accomplished at crafts from cross-stitching to scrapbooking to creative greeting cards. She was self-effacing, delightfully sarcastic and generous in all things. She was a sweet lady. She was the loving wife of Ralmond Rutkowski, mother of Jennifer and Daniel, and grandmother of Owen. Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island.
