Lois Jean Halladay Nordwall
July 1, 1936 to September 9, 2010
Lois Jean (Halladay) Nordwall of Mercer Island, WA, passed away on September 9th with her family at her side. Lois was born in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Alice Halladay. She grew up with her 2 younger brothers, Richard and William, in Hinsdale, IL, and graduated from Hinsdale High School. Lois attended Principia College and graduated with a teaching degree from Northern Illinois University. Later she completed her Master’s Degree at Seattle Pacific University. Lois taught high school in Illinois, California, and Washington. She also taught investment classes on behalf of the Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Investment Clubs. Lois was very active in the community as a member of the Women’s University Club, NAIC, PEO, and several local investment clubs. Lois loved to travel with her family and her WUC friends. For the last 25 years she was a water aerobics regular at the Mercer Island pool. Lois was also an enthusiastic cheerleader for the TriGrrls triathlon team. Lois leaves behind many special memories in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her. She was blessed with many wonderful and loving friends. Lois was animated and full of life – she was always ready with a laugh and had a priceless expression of joy. Her optimism and humor were treasured by all. Lois is survived by her husband, Harold Nordwall; her brother William Halladay and his wife Becky of Corona del Mar, CA; her oldest daughter Patricia Smith, her husband Douglas, and grandson Daniel of Farmington Hills, MI; her youngest daughter Alice Nordwall of Bellevue, WA; and her nephews Evan, Charles, Benjamin, and Andrew Halladay. Lois is predeceased by her brother Richard Halladay of Alpharetta, GA.
