Dorothy L. Olson, 84, died on Aug. 4, 2009. She was born in London, England, in 1925 to Fred and Dorothy Carter. She came to America as a war bride, marrying Elmer Olson in 1947 and settling in Aberdeen. They moved to Mercer Island, living there until retirement.
For many years, Mrs. Olson was the owner/operator of Mercer Island Steno. She was the secretary of the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce, elected Woman of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association for the Greater Eastside in 1978, and enjoyed being “resident photographer” for the Madison House retirement community in Kirkland.
Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by Elmer Olson, her husband of 45 years, and by her daughter, Julie. She is survived by sons, Allan (Charlotte), Mel (Elizabeth) and David (Stephanie); grandchildren, Chris (Caitlin), Nicole and Dallas; and great-grandson, Cohen.
Mrs. Olson will be greatly missed by the many who loved her deeply. There will be no public services.
