The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Puget Sound area, in effect from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, April 7.
Current forecasts call for winds from the southeast that may occasionally gust to almost 50 miles per hour later in the day. With the recent rains and saturated soils, this could lead to some minor blowdowns and possible power outages.
Mercer Island city crews are ready to respond to road blockages as needed. The city recommends reporting problems to its Public Works Dept by phone at 206-275-7608.
If the problem involves powerlines, report that to Puget Sound Energy at 1-888-225-5773. To check on outages, consult PSE’s online map here.
The city will provide updates as needed.
