With the announcement of Dr. Gary Plano’s departure on June 30, the Mercer Island School Board has begun the process of seeking a new leader, and needs input from stakeholders — including staff, students, parents, and members of the community — about the characteristics and qualities important to Mercer Island in the selection of a new superintendent.

A Superintendent Search page has been established on the district website at www.mercerislandschools.org/superintendentsearch.

The Island community is invited to participate in forums at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 25 and 7 p.m. April 26 in the Board Room of the MISD Administration Building, 4160 86th SE, and take an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WTJY8VX, which will close at 6 a.m. on May 1.

The forums will be facilitated by the district’s search consultant, Ray and Associates.
