Juliana Louise Wellman was born October 23, 1938. She went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family April 28, 2017.
Born to Rudolph W. and Grace L. Kalberer, Julie grew up in Lafayette, Indiana in a very close family with her brother William D. Kalberer. In high school Julie enjoyed singing in the choir and there met the love of her life David C. Wellman. She attended Purdue University, joined the Delta Gamma sorority and later married David in 1959. As the wife of an officer, Julie moved around the country in support of David’s Air Force career. Together they had 3 children; Dan, Marlene and Kris. Julie lovingly and selflessly cared for her family.
They eventually settled on Mercer Island after Dave took a job with Boeing. She was involved in Welcome Wagon, Bible studies, choir, children’s ministry and ladies’ group with her church. Julie was the ultimate hostess, enjoyed large family gatherings and she was happiest when they could all be together. The favorite part of her life was when she was a mother with her kids at home. Throughout her life she exemplified the Christian life with her unconditional love.
Julie is survived by her husband of 57 years, 3 children: Dan (Jennie) Wellman, Marlene (Tim) Lemon, Kris (Matt) Peterson, 9 grandchildren: Natalie and Nathan Wellman, Katie (Nate) Van Dick, David, Tom and Jeff Lemon, Debbie (Jared) Rose, Steven and Daniel Peterson and 1 great-grandson, Logan Van Dick.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20th at 11:30 am at Evergreen Covenant Church. She will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery.
