Join Chamber for commuter parking discussion
City of Mercer Island staff are inviting Town Center business and property owners and managers to meet with them to discuss concerns about street parking, particularly with the scheduled May 30 closure of the South Bellevue Park and Ride.
The meeting will be held from 9-10 a.m. on May 18 at the North Fire Station, 3030 78th Ave. SE.
The city wants to ask business owners how the current street parking program is working, and if they agree with the city’s stance that off-Island commuters should not use Town Center streets for commuter parking.
The city needs businesses to be its eyes and ears on the street and report violators, according to a memo from the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce.
The city will also give a general update about traffic mitigation to be installed over the next few weeks by Sound Transit, and a general Interstate 90 update.
New Seasons to host Hunger Match this weekend
On May 20-21, New Seasons Market will hold its annual Hunger Match, an in-store event that raises funds for and awareness of its Hunger Relief Partners at the register.
Customers can give to this organization any day of the year, but during the Hunger Match weekend, New Seasons Market matches the dollars its customers donate.
Dollars collected during all store hours on those days will be matched, up to $1,000, by New Seasons Market. The funds will support Mercer Island Youth and Family Services’ family and emergency assistance programs.
The store has invited Youth and Family Services staff to be there from noon to 4 p.m. each day to promote and highlight all they do for the community, with a focus on the food bank.
