The biggest event of the Seafair summer festival occurs this weekend, when the final celebration gets underway. The Blue Angels aerobatic team is back once again to perform its usual airshow.
As a result, the Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of Interstate 90 between Seattle and Mercer Island to accommodate air show practices and performances during a four-day period. The floating bridge section of I-90 will be closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, eastbound and westbound, on the following dates.
Thursday, Aug. 3: 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; 1-2:40 p.m. (Practice)
Friday, Aug. 4: 12:55 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. (Full Show)
Saturday, Aug. 5: 12:55 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. (Full Show)
Sunday, Aug. 6: 12:55 pm to 2:40 p.m. (Full Show)
I-90 east of Mercer Island will not be closed during the performance, although drivers should note that heavy congestion during these closures often restricts access to the exits. Drivers should leave early and plan ahead.
